Fish Vilanculos

Kwalata Safaris has teamed up with Big Blue in the beautiful archipelago town of Vilanculos in Mozambique for all deep sea and shore line fishing.

Deep-sea fishing expeditions along the Mozambican coastline are exceptional with the Bazaruto Archipelago recognised as one of the best destinations in the world for Black Marlin.

Black Marlin come to spawn along the Bazaruto Archipelago’s coastline between September and January, with numerous catches over 1000lbs – the average catch is 300 – 600lbs. Blue and Stripped Marlin are also caught during this time of year. Sailfish are found whole year round but best catches are from April to August.

Fly-fishing in Mozambique, for Queenfish, Ladyfish, Bonefish, Pompano and several species of Kingfish, in the narrow channels between Bazaruto and Benguerra, is unsurpassed with the best season being from March to July. Rock and surf fish include Kingfish, Couta, King Mackerel, Springer, and big Garfish. Other catches include, Barracuda, Bludger King Fish, Dorado (Mahi Mahi), Green Jobfish, Kawakawa, Prodigal Son, Rainbow Runner, Skipjack and Yellowfin Tuna, and Wahoo.

A variety of other shark species also occur offshore including Blackspot, Blacktip, Bull, Dusky, Silvertip, Tiger and Zambezi making for exciting and strenuous fishing!

The Bazaruto Archipelago has something to offer any fisherman all year round.  Anglers come to enjoy light trolling for the big variety of pelagic gamefish that frequent our shoreline.  Popping and jigging for the many fish species that inhabit our healthy reef systems is also very popular.  Come with your family and friends and catch the fish of your dreams.

Big Blue practises catch and release.
