Kwalata Wilderness

After being established by Heinz Heuser in 1988, Kwalata Wilderness was passed down to Reinhard Heuser. Kwalata Wilderness’ savannah bushveld forms part of the UNESCO Waterberg Biosphere Nature Reserve which has been declared an indigenous forest. As part of our name, “Wilderness” literally describes, Kwalata has the expanse and untamed African feel. Even we, who live and hunt here, are yet to discover areas of this beautiful unspoilt property hidden between the mountain ranges and valleys of this reserve.

The huge variety of natural fauna and flora, rivers, dams and streams, provide a perfect environment for hunting groups and their families to enjoy a truly South African safari experience. Kwalata’s team of professional staff are trained to guide and assist in every aspect of your safari adventure. Luxurious accommodation, at either of our two lodges Valamanzi or Zingela, helpful staff and a professional chef are on hand to ensure that you are comfortable throughout your stay, and that every aspect of your safari is taken care of.  The warmth and friendliness and personal attention of all our staff, have guests leaving as friends.

Guests will enjoy the swimming pool and the landscaped gardens & dam which are beautifully lit at night so guests can enjoy the wildlife.

Valamanzi Lodge

Valamanzi, meaning “close the water” in Zulu, is the main safari camp on the water’s edge and is perfect for family groups, children and private individuals.

At this gorgeous wooden camp the balconies and out-look decks provide birds-eye views over the beautiful dam. Each private chalet has a double bed room and a loft with two single beds, full bathroom, indoor lounge and kitchen with seating on the balcony.  Chalet 1 is more spacious and offers luxurious king and queen bedrooms, a double bedroom, three bathrooms, kitchen, lounge and outdoor patio.

Valamanzi’s central stone built lapa is the meeting place for guest to enjoy our popular bar and to relax their weary feet around a crackling fire. It’s famous for stories of Africa, jokes & laughter.

Dinners on the deck, warmed from the heat of the wood fires, accompanied by the sounds of Sotho voices and drums will enthral visitors. Delicious meals of wild game meats such as Impala, Kudu, to even Sable will delight a hunter’s taste buds.

Guests will enjoy the swimming pool and the landscaped gardens & dam which are beautifully lit at night so guests can enjoy the wildlife.

Zingela; our second lodge, a Zulu word meaning “Hunter”; is constructed entirely from local stone and indigenous wood – pure rustic luxury. Shaded under a huge canopy of Wild Fig Trees guests can relax around the central fire and barbeque to share their adventures and enjoy a refreshing drink. The bar, lounge and dining room provide for an excellent entertainment space for sumptuous meals and entertainment by your hosts.

The double storey lodge looks over expansive lawns to the sparkling swimming pool and beyond the water lily covered dam and feeding spot for game. On the upper level 5 bedrooms have sweeping views to the bush and below the two double bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.
